Let’s consider the strategy for prevention for the three key chronic diseases—heath disease first. The WHO asks us to maintain a healthy weight and eat more omega-3 fatty acids from fish or plant sources along with more fruits, vegetables and whole grains.

The American Heart Association gives the same suggestion. From a nutrition standpoint, their keys to heart health are:
Eat more fruits and vegetables, whole grains, and omega-3 rich fish.
